The GCA 2022 Build Hawaii Awards honors GCA members who build the state’s most impressive construction projects ranging across the building, highway and transportation, municipal and utilities, and federal and heavy divisions.
This annual awards program was held at the Royal Hawaiian Hotel showcasing Hawaii’s most complex and impressive projects constructed by our members that utilize state-of-the-art innovation and techniques.
Hensel Phelps received the Excellence Award for various categories including Design-Build / Design-Assist Construction $100 million and above for their work on the Hawaii State Hospital New Patient Facility. RNSHA provided electrical engineering design services for the new patient facility (NPF). The design included general purpose power, EV chargers, metering distribution switchboard, and electrical connections; telecommunications; lighting; exterior lighting; standby generator system as backup to the existing primary power; lightning protection system; fire alarm system; uninterruptible power supply system for IT equipment and life safety systems including egress lighting and security control systems. Services also included specifications and construction cost estimates, and coordination with Hawaiian Electric Company.
Hensel Phelps also received the Excellence Award in the Building Construction $100 million and above category for the Mauka Concourse at Daniel K. Inouye International Airport. RNSHA provided the design of approximately 230,000 SF of interior space improvements, demolition of existing commuter terminal, and site preparation, including relocation of utilities. Design included power, lighting, emergency electrical, telephone, data, flight information display (FIDS), public address, security, gate management system (GMS), and passenger loading bridge systems.
